Ban Na Ton Chan

History

         Na Ton Chan village is located in Bantiuk sub-district, Si Sat Chanalai district, Sukhothai province, was established more than 160 years ago by people who migrated from the north such as Lampang and Uttradit province. They use the north dialect.

         Geographically a plateau, most of the villagers depend on the Maerak creek to earn a living by agriculture doing paddy farming and fruit planting. After harvest, the women weave the original cloth using the indigenous weave machine to make a pattern, called Yok Dok pattern and use it in making Sabai cloth, an ankle-length skirt (Sarong), a piece of cloth etc. Besides they have improved more patterns such as Pikul pattern, Lotus pattern and Sarapee pattern etc.

Homestay

         You will stay in one of the villager's houses with their family. Enjoy the cultural experience and learn about Thai cooking and the original way of weaving, using the homemade machine following the families traditional methods. Practice the former pattern or creating new pattern with your style. Besides you can participate in an agricultural plantation or the villager's orchards. Enjoy the rural environment there are plenty of walks or bicycle rides that you can take along these cool shady areas. Besides they still have many ceremonies around the year that you can learn more about Thai Buddhist beliefs.
