Ban Chiang

History

        Ban Chiang village is famous as the Archaeological Site. There was Thai Puan that immigrated from Wiang Chan and settled down here for more than 200 years. There are 1,576 houses in the village with a population of around 6,874. The main occupation is paddy farming. While side occupations are making pottery, handmade silk, cotton and basketry. Ban Chiang's painting pattern that presents prehistoric culture of Ban Chiang made their pottery spectacular.

         Ban Chiang Archaeological Site that dates back over 5,000 years is considered to be cultural property of outstanding universal value and was nominated as a World Heritage Site in December 1992. It is located at Ban Chiang, Amphoe Nong Han, 55 kilometres from Udon Thani town.

Homestay

        You will stay in one of the villager's houses with their family. Enjoy the cultural experience and learn about Thai cooking and making pottery following the families traditional methods. Enjoy the rural environment there are plenty of walks or bicycle rides that you can take along the Ban Chiang Archaeological Site.
